Hidrólisis y separación de biomasa lignocelulósica en un proceso al sulfito con el objeto de valorizar las principales fracciones dentro del concepto de bio-refinería

ABSTRACT: Physico-chemical and biological processes can be used to transform different pulp and paper industries through integrated forest biorefineries in order to valorise all of the main fractions of the lignocellulosic biomass (cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin). In this work, hydrolysis and fractionation processes have been studied in a sulphite pulp mill to obtain not only dissolving pulp from the cellulose but also lignosulphonates from the lignin and fermentation products from the hemicellulose. Delignification and hydrolysis experiments have been carried out at laboratory scale in order to increase the valorization opportunities and trying to decrease the inhibitors in the final by-product. In addition, detoxification or separation treatments have been developed in order to separate the lignosulphonates and other inhibitors from the sugar substrate.RESUMEN:Diferentes procesos físico-químico y biológicos se pueden utilizar para transformar la industria de la pasta y celulosa en bio-refinerías forestales integradas, con el objetivo de valorizar las principales fracciones de la biomasa lignocelulósica (celulosa, hemicelulosa y lignina). En este trabajo se han utilizado diferentes procesos de hidrólisis y fraccionamiento en una industria de pasta celulósica con el fin de obtener no solo la pasta dissolving sino también lignosulfonatos procedentes de la lignina y productos de fermentación de la hemicelulosa. Se han llevado a cabo diferentes experimentos de hidrólisis y deslignificación a escala laboratorio para aumentar las oportunidades de valorización y tratando de disminuirla producción de inhibidores en los sub-productos. Caracterización cinemática y de la fuerza durante el gesto deportivo patada baja en la disciplina artes marciales.

En el ámbito local, la aplicación del desarrollo biomecánico en los deportes, no ha sido un factor que se haya tomado en cuenta. Los escasos conocimientos que se adquieren sobre las disciplinas deportivas no se cuantifican, solo se realizan cualitativamente por expertos o entrenadores durante la secciones de entrenamientos. La necesidad de caracterizar y cuantificar los gestos deportivos para el apoyo a las distintas disciplinas, se hace evidente conforme avanza la práctica de las mismas. Una de estas disciplinas comprende el grupo de las artes marciales, en las cuales, uno de los principales desafíos de los deportistas, es lograr un efectivo posicionamiento corporal, tanto de las extremidades superiores, tronco y cabeza, como de las extremidades inferiores, que actúan en conjunto para permitir un correcto desplazamiento del centro de gravedad y mantener el equilibrio corporal en cualquier ejecución de movimiento que se desee realizar. La posible aparición de fuerzas externas que obstaculicen la realización efectiva de un movimiento es un riesgo latente en un combate de artes marciales, ya sea por bloqueo o por la recepción de impactos, lo cual provoca la desestabilización corporal, que, teniendo en cuenta la función de las extremidades inferiores en el combate como estabilizadoras y equilibrantes, son las principales afectadas en dichos casos con la posible aparición de lesiones por falso apoyo plantar. Abarcar la caracterización de todos los movimientos que puedan ocasionar dichas lesiones es un trabajo demasiado complejo y extenso, por lo cual en este estudio, se plantea entonces la caracterización cinemática y de la fuerza durante el gesto deportivo patada baja, para el cual, los deportistas mejoraran la ejecución de los gestos técnicos deportivos, según los resultados obtenidos del estudio, además de reducir la aparición de lesiones, que comprometan el desarrollo deportivo y afecten la integridad física de un practicante.Ingeniero Biomédicopregrad

Multi-criteria analysis of detoxification alternatives: techno-economic and socio-environmental assessment

The transformation of fermentable sugars provided from lignocellulosic wastes into biofuels or bioproducts is a key point at second-generation biorefineries. Spent sulfite liquor is a xylose-rich hydrolysate constituting the main residue of sulfite mills producing dissolving cellulose. Due to the presence of the inhibitors in the spent liquor, the most promising valorization options require detoxification before sugars bioconversion. In this work, a multi criteria analysis was implemented to select techno-economic and socio-environmental feasible detoxification alternatives that can be adapted to a wide variety of fermenting scenarios. Total inhibitors removal, phenolics removal, acetic acid removal, lignosulfonates removal, total sugar losses, fixed capital invested, manufacturing costs, waste toxicity, social acceptance, and employment were chosen as the most relevant criteria. The maximum allowable concentration of undesirable inhibitors cannot be established with a general character, and thereby decision-making tools result in feasible and efficient solutions. From a technical viewpoint best solution was anionic resins with a score of 0.68; the most economical alternative was the overliming with a score of 0.76; finally, from a socio-environmental perspective, overliming reached the highest score of 0.78. In addition, three spent liquor biorefinery models were proposed. Based on the multicriteria analysis and based on the inhibitor?s concentration affecting fermentation yields and productivity, the best detoxification alternatives were (1) anionic resins for polyhydroxyalkanoate production; (2) activated carbon for ethanol biorefinery; (3) overliming for xylitol biorefinery.The authors gratefully acknowledge the financial support by KBBE-2012-6-311935 BRIGIT research project www.brigit-project.e

Influence of input variables over the wood digestion in a sulfite pulp mill for biorefinery purposes

Eucalyptus globulus is the most profitable specie in Europe for pulping. However, in recent years some diseases and pests have caused its defoliation, affecting the available quantity of wood. In this sense, the mills are studying how to avoid the loss of pulp yield as well as the optimization of byproducts in order to take advantage of every component present in the wood using biorefinery processes. One of the possible options is to complete the consumption of E. globulus with other species such as Eucalyptus nitens. The objective of this paper is to study the behavior of both species related to the dissolving pulp manufacturing process as well as the characteristics of the resulting products. Parameters that can be very useful for the evaluation of the raw material, such as the growing data or density of both species, have been compared. Major attention has been focused on the composition of both species and how it affects the characteristics of the possible final products. E. nitens presents good results of forestry characteristics, being better than E. globulus in terms of growing and resistance to frosts. Entre la gráfica y la función: un espacio de conceptualización

Este trabajo está orientado al estudio de las representaciones gráficas de funciones a fin de construir un módulo para docentes que contenga actividades estratégicamente diseñadas en cuanto a metodología y didáctica, de tal forma que los educandos puedan construir los conceptos de forma correcta, siendo conscientes que en el fondo hay un gran objeto matemático, con un enorme campo de aplicación: la función. Para ello, se desarrolla el trabajo de campo en la institución educativa Conrado González Mejía, la cual está ubicada en el barrio Robledo de la ciudad de Medellín

Invirtiendo la clase de matemáticas en los últimos cursos de secundaria mediante el uso de videos enriquecidos

Uno de los principales retos del profesorado en los tiempos que corren es el de motivar al estudiantado y buscar metodologías que faciliten el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. El crecimiento de la tecnología y su uso en el aula ha permitido evolucionar las metodologías. En este estudio se presenta el uso de EdPuzzle como herramienta para trabajar matemáticas siguiendo el modelo de clase invertida. Para poder medir los resultados se ha realizado un pretest y se ha tomado la nota del examen de evaluación del primer trimestre, como postest. Para hacer esto se han considerado dos grupos en tercero, y otros dos en cuarto, de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO), definidos a partir del aprovechamiento que han tenido de los vídeos. A pesar de que, en un inicio, los dos grupos de tercero eran homogéneos, en términos de conocimiento previo, y los de cuarto también en los mismos términos, la comparación de las medianas de las calificaciones obtenidas por ambos grupos muestra que estas son, en líneas generales, superiores en los grupos que han aprovechado los vídeos que en aquellos que no los han aprovechado, lo que contribuye a considerar el uso de EdPuzzle como una muy buena herramienta para invertir la clase. Por último, la satisfacción del estudiantado con respecto a su uso ha mostrado ser muy elevada, y este aspecto también contribuye a que se considere como una herramienta a considerar en el aula de matemáticas.One of the main challenges for teachers is to motivate students and seek methodologies that facilitate the teaching-learning process. The growth of technology and its use in the classroom has allowed the evolution of methodologies. This study presents the use of EdPuzzle as a tool to work mathematics following the flipped classroom model. In order to measure the results, a pre-test has been carried out and the mark obtained in the first quarter evaluation exam has been taken, as a post-test. To carry out this measurement, we have considered two groups in the third year, and another two in the fourth, of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), defined from the use they have had of the videos. Despite the fact that, initially, the two third-year groups were homogeneous, in terms of previous knowledge, and the fourth-year groups were also homogeneous in the same terms, the comparison of the medians of the grades obtained by both groups shows that these are, in general terms, higher in the groups that have taken advantage of the videos than in those that have not taken advantage of them, which contributes to consider the use of EdPuzzle as a very good tool to reverse the class. Lastly, student satisfaction with respect to its use has shown to be very high, and this aspect also contributes to consider EdPuzzle as a tool to be taken into account in the mathematics classroom
